In their own words
Azura Hamzah
Administrative Officer · Kuching
"I came in feeling embarrassed that I didn't understand basic money stuff at my age. By mid-morning, that feeling had gone. The facilitator was warm, and the group conversation felt safe. The checklists are still stuck to my fridge."
Confidence Workshop · May 2025
Rajesh Nair
Small Trader · Kota Samarahan
"The multi-week programme gave me structure I didn't know I needed. Each week built on the last and the group discussions were the highlight. I feel much more settled about how I handle money for my small business now."
Confidence Building Programme · Apr 2025
Nurul Zulfah
Homemaker · Kuching
"I joined the toolkit option because I wanted to go at my own pace. The worksheets are well-designed and made me think about things I had been avoiding for years. The community is small but really encouraging. Would have liked slightly more frequent live check-ins."
Confidence Toolkit · May 2025
Lim Wei Shan
Young Professional · Kuching
"I was nervous that it would feel like a sales pitch for some financial product. It wasn't at all. Just practical, friendly, and genuinely useful. The one-day format was a good length — enough to get through real content without being overwhelming."
Confidence Workshop · April 2025
Priya Menon
Teacher · Miri
"I drove from Miri for the programme. Worth every minute. The facilitator never made anyone feel judged and the group clicked really fast. By week three, people were sharing things they had never told anyone. That kind of openness doesn't happen by accident."
Confidence Building Programme · Mar 2025
Farizul Karim
Civil Servant · Kuching
"Solid workshop. The morning session was my favourite — simple, clear, and I came away with a checklist that I actually used. My only small note would be that the afternoon felt a bit rushed toward the end, but I understand they were fitting a lot in."

How learning unfolded for three participants
The challenge
Azura, 34, felt a knot in her stomach whenever money came up at home. She and her husband avoided the topic, which led to tension and a general feeling of things being out of control — even though their household income was stable.
What she did
She attended the Confidence Workshop in April 2025. The group discussion helped her name the specific worry (not knowing what was in her savings) rather than just feeling anxious about money in general. She used the checklist to look at one account the following week.
The outcome
Three weeks later, she and her husband sat down together with the checklist. It was the first time in two years they had discussed household money calmly. She has since joined the Toolkit programme to keep the momentum going.
"I didn't realise how much of my stress was about not knowing, not about the actual numbers."
The challenge
Rajesh, 41, ran a small trading business in Kota Samarahan. He kept his personal and business spending mixed together out of habit. At the end of each month, he could not clearly tell if the business was doing well or if his personal spending was filling the gaps.
What he did
He enrolled in the full Confidence Building Programme. Over six weeks, the group discussed everyday money habits and tracking approaches. The weekly worksheets helped him identify a simple way to separate the two without overhauling everything at once.
The outcome
By the end of the programme, he had a simple monthly tracking habit in place and could see clearly, for the first time, that his business was running well. He received his certificate of attendance in May 2025 and has shared the programme with two family members.
"It wasn't about fixing everything overnight. It was about having one clear picture instead of a blur."
